One small finish

Here's a cute little dollie with her new blanket. She if off to the Smiles Project for the kiddies. this little blanket is the only sewing I have managed all month.

Well, Tupac has definelty gotten fat since his first pic on this site. He is trying to get out of his cage to eat some more of my flowers he can see through the window.

My cabinet show in the last post is still sitting there waiting for its top. I had picked out a granite top, but one it got here, I decided I wanted to have a wooden top made for it. The great thing about this little cabinet is that it is on wheels. We can move it around for parties and bigger dinners. I am really happy about that.

its finally here

my new cabinet is here. its just a little addition to the exisiting kitchen. It is for all my red appliances, and to store my lap top in during the day while I am cooking.

More finishes.

These little bunnies are going to the Smiles Project. They are from Sewing for Sarah. So very easy and cute.

I tested these little soft elephants. Aren't they cute. Patti did a wonderful job on them.

I call this a hurricane quilt. When we had so much damage from a hurricane, a dear friend gave me a quilt made like this. I measured carefully, then made my own pattern, then came up with this from scraps. It is going to a dear aunt who just lost her husband.

Another yellow brick road quilt. It's already gone to a sweet little girl.

Basketweave

I usually go with light, soft colors, so this was a stretch for me. I do think it was cute once I was done. This blanket goes to a cute little grandson, of a friend of mine. She actually gave me a lot of her strips to make this basketweave.

Here's the basketweave from Bonnie's Quiltville.com. I liked the blue so much, so I started a green one of the same print.

I love finishes. This one was easy to quilt, but I kept getting lost and wondering around the quilt. I don't think anyone will notice.

My youngest daughters friend. Her baby shower for a cute little girl. I really didn't get many pics because I was busy holding a little newborn, which gave my daughter the chance to eat my sandwhiches. Hard to believe they grew up so fast.

My daughters puppy needed a new blanket, but being a baby he still chews on his blankets. I don't have a stash at all, I only buy what I need for a project, so we found a flea market that sells fabric for 50 cents a yard. So, I bought this cute stuff.

I used all my little pieces of batting, I used the fabric basting spray to glue it all down. Then glued down the top. It went together very nicely. Of course, little puppy has already pulled off all the binding.

I bought a kit of stars, they all blended together, so I added different fabrics, then I redesigned the quilt to this top. I really like it. It is off at the quilters.

I usually don't piece the entire backing, but I had so much fabric left over, that I did a king size yellow brick road for the backing. I have enough left over to make a lap quilt to hang off a chair.

I don't really care for the plastic clear sewing boxes, I do however love vintage cases to carry my stuff around in. This is my latest. I didn't have one like this.

Agggggggghhhhhhhhhh, I broke my big mat. Don't you hate when that happens.

It's finally there!!!

It's finally to its new owner. Remember this quilt, everyone who knows me was saying, "You don't have a sister Diana." I don't, it is for a very dear friend that is under the weather. A bunch of her wonderful friends made all the blocks, and all I had to do was whip it up. we were working so hard to keep it a secret. Well, she finally got it last night. Evidently is really did stay a suprise, THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR WORKING SO HARD ON THIS.

Dani's wedding quilt. It measures 108 x 108, so I did not quilt it myself, it took me 2 hours to put the binding on completely by machine, it was just too heavy to move. My quilter did a wonderful job on it, we couldn't be happier.


All four corners are embroidered.

Do you see the bullseye heart. I have made 3 of these for my daughters. The first one was cut in 4 then resewed. But the two younger daughters liked it better uncut. All though they have been made years apart, they all use a lot of the same fabrics, pieces from special quilts, fabric from dear friends who have gone on to quilting heaven, fabrics that represented special interest of each one. I have made a fourth for my nephew. I haven't put on the rainbows on his however, so that leaves 2 to be completed and quilted. I have the bullseye pieces in my stash, as an ongoing quilt, but I was reading in a book that bullseyes are outdated, so I am considering removing it from my ongoing projects, and letting 4 be my final number.

Lots of bright colors. You, know I never made me one, however, they are doing the poesy looking ones now, I might consider doing one of those.

The quilting on the back, isn't it wonderful.

My quilter just did a straight line, I would have liked a little scroll, but my daughter likes it, and doesn't want me to change it. Her wedding was red and black.

I found this quilt on ebay, and bought it a few blocks at a time, when I went to put it together, I was one short, so I designed this block. My daughter has claimed this quilt for her Christmas present, she says this is her fabric block. Can you see my heart quilting. It's definelty the biggest quilting job I have undertaken. I did practice a lot before I did this one.

I just love the colors. I have been working mostly with scraps lately, so this was fun to do. It's my first applique quilt, I think it's horrid, but the girls love it. I am just happy it is done. It was the Heartland Quilt from JoAnne's I think.

My quilting on the back. This one didn't move very well. The backing was embossed, and it seemed to want to stick on the machine. Once I figured out what was going on, and held it up a little, it went much smoother.

I love this red and black back, and it was half price.
