Lego quilt

I am still working on sewing up my processed scraps.  I sew until I use all of that size scrap.  Then I put the piece in a basket to iron later.  I am very behind in my ironing.  Maybe one day I will feel like ironing, but not this week.  I really do like doing this quilt. 

I hope to get inspired to iron soon.  I have probably 15 scrap centers of quilts to iron, then see if I have scraps for borders.  I am trying to sew all the fabric I have before I buy any more.

Lego quilt

 Change stitching scrap quilts.  I have boxes of scraps cut, ready for stitching.  My goal was to sew through my boxes until I had not enough variety to keep sewing.  I did make that goal.  Yeah.

Here I am chain stitching for a lego quilt.  It will be my second lego quilt.  I usually don't sew with such small pieces, but I found this a fun challenge.

I used up all my cut fabric for the lego quilt, so I met that goal, next months goal is to iron the sewn pieces.  Where has the month gone.

I like the way it is turning out, but how can it be so uneven. I pinned, I sewed slow. I ironed, I starched. Well, now I will be trimming, trimming, trimming.

Free motion quilting

I am cutting out 12" squares to practice free hand quilting. This is some of the made fabric I ironed on for hours. The small pieces left over were cut into small lego strips

Almost all of this was scraps given to me over the years. It make a great, colorful fabric.

Here's some made fabric that I made years ago. I ironed them up, and cut into 1 1/2" strips for my lego quilt. It was really fun. And it cleared out another container.

Here's a large basket of crumb squares to iron, and then add more strips. Slow progress, but fun progress.

I'm not much of a pinner, but I have had to pin these strips to keep them straight. This may be a cheap quilt top, it might use up all my little scraps, but it is not a quick, carefree project.

I put them ontop of the basket as I am sewing them to keep them nice and wrinkle free. After all that ironing, I don't want anything put on top of it.

Lego quilt

I have a system, I am cutting them out and putting them on this tray so I can pick my colors as I go. No, I can't do the grab a piece and sew it in regardless. I also have a lot of beiges from Sheri, and I want to mix them in, but still make a cheery babies quilt. Yeap, it will be a small one. I haven't set a deadline on finishing it. It will be kept for a family baby, so I don't have to hurry.

Does anyone have a favorite place to order batting online? I am trying to order online this year, and not make so many 30 minutes to town to buy $10's worth of supplies. I just hate paying postage, but I will try to get on board with the rest of the online buyers. Kevin loves online buying. I guess I will try. Sooooooooo, where should I buy from.
