My tiniest scraps, legos & strips

I am very slowly working throught the 2 wicker baskets of tiny scraps this long weekend. I certainly don't plan on letting them stack up like this again. It takes a long time to go through a bushel of scraps. These are my smallest scraps

I cut my scraps down as soon as I determine they are scraps. Usually as soon as I pin a backing on an almost finished quilt, and have made the binding. I cut my pieces into tumblers, curves, 4 1/2, 3 1/2, and 2 1/2 as my smallest one. I do cut a bunch of 2 1/2 " strips, as I do use several different size strips for quilt blocks that I am working on.

This basket has what is too small to be cut into those. A lot of times I was throwing them away. But now I am working on a Lego quilt and a strip quilt. I am trying to be as frugal as possible these days. I'm wondering if I made a good choice. Althought this will be 2 completely free quilt tops, they do eat up a lot of time.

I certainly have a lot of catching up on. I went back to work full time, we did a lot of remodeling last year, and we worked on a wedding for 18 months. So I am wondering about my decision to make 2 very slow going quilts. But I will work on them a little longer. If I decide it is taking too long, potholders they will be. HA. Always a plan for sucess.

Little Cuties

Tiffany's friend gave me 7 of these little dolls to give to a friend of mine's 4 year old. I decided they needed a few accessories. I have a friend that goes to garage sells looking for a couple of beds and high chairs. I have been cutting out little blankets for them. I will make little cloth sleeping bags for them on my embroidery machine. I think in February would be good. They just had Christmas, so a present in a few weeks might be fun. I need to go through more scraps, and do a few more of these blankets. I put very little time in them, so when they get dirty, she can just throw them. I love making little girls accessories. Not real good at making boys toys.

Getting ready for projects

I spent quite a while ironing these. I use these when I need a stabilizer for my embroidery machine. I was going to throw most of these away, and just iron when I needed them. But, I knew that I would put off projects if I didn't have them all ready. I use them on a lot of my give away projects. I love free supplies. Don't you. What's the craziest free supply that you use in your sewing projects?

I have this small one and a big basket full of scraps and fabric softner sheets. I am trying to empty them out by tomorrow night. I have a 3 day weekend, so I am working on a few fun things while I clean and straighten my house.

Gnome & Barbie meet

I just made the skits a little longer, and poof. It's a dress. I decided not to put on ribbon for the neck tie. Most of these are going to a 4 year old, and I think that might not be good for her to work with. A lot of these girlie fabrics were given to me by quilting friends. It was a trip down memory lane to work with them.

I love my little gnome. I have wanted one for years to put in pics with us. Dani got me this cutie for Christmas. He did a good job holding up our Barbie. There is still chocolate on him from when he joined up for Christmas making Chocolate covered apples. We had fun doing them, and I can't believe it, we forgot to take pics of them finished.

Buttons

ok, does anyone know how to add a button to my website from another site?

I thought I had figured it out, but it tells me the code has illegal letters???

More Barbie

I need to find a better place to take pics. I think the light is shining off the granite if my flash hits it just right. I have these little cuties already in labeled zip lock bags to keep them clean for gift giving.

I started on the lego quilt, well my own version of course, when to work on it a little, can't remember where I stored it. So, I am trimming little tiny scraps of fabric, while I think of where I stored it. Do you ever do that?

Barbie Clothes

Aren't these just the cutest little things. They were quick and easy to make.
I am making these for gifts for little ones for the little ones, and maybe a few grandmothers that get to play Barbies with their little ones.

I got the plans for making these from Tip Junkie. She has a wonderful little tutorial for doing these. Of course, I changed the size, and did the eleastic a little differently. I don't like stretching elastic as I sew it, so I made a little casing, and just ran it through. These are all done on my serger.
I do hope everyone is having a great new year. We are just enjoying the day, while getting a little done. Not zipping around for sure.

I am vaccuming, washing clothes, and rugs, taking care of my indoor plants.

I have been ironing fabric, and trying to organize a bunch of little projects, like cut Barbie clothes for when I just have a few minutes here and there. So, I was taking a little break, back to cutting out strips, more on that later this week.

Barbie Clothes

Here's a few Barbie skirts I have been slowly working on between all the crazy madness of Christmas. I do enjoy making something so quickly with all my small scraps. I did sew them on my Serger. Love sewing fast.
