I am very slowly working throught the 2 wicker baskets of tiny scraps this long weekend. I certainly don't plan on letting them stack up like this again. It takes a long time to go through a bushel of scraps. These are my smallest scraps
I cut my scraps down as soon as I determine they are scraps. Usually as soon as I pin a backing on an almost finished quilt, and have made the binding. I cut my pieces into tumblers, curves, 4 1/2, 3 1/2, and 2 1/2 as my smallest one. I do cut a bunch of 2 1/2 " strips, as I do use several different size strips for quilt blocks that I am working on.
This basket has what is too small to be cut into those. A lot of times I was throwing them away. But now I am working on a Lego quilt and a strip quilt. I am trying to be as frugal as possible these days. I'm wondering if I made a good choice. Althought this will be 2 completely free quilt tops, they do eat up a lot of time.
I certainly have a lot of catching up on. I went back to work full time, we did a lot of remodeling last year, and we worked on a wedding for 18 months. So I am wondering about my decision to make 2 very slow going quilts. But I will work on them a little longer. If I decide it is taking too long, potholders they will be. HA. Always a plan for sucess.
